Tumbled Logic

The Scottish Labour Party

Yesterday, I received a leaflet from the Scottish Labour Party.

On the front, it quotes “Alan and Helen, from Bishopbriggs, with their daughter Eilidh”.

It quotes them saying:

Gordon Brown has demonstrated real leadership in seeing us through tough times. Labour is working hard for Scottish people nationally and in Europe, to ensure no one is left behind. They’re the only party on the side of hard working families.

While the questionable grammar could well be attributed to “Alan and Helen”, I’m struggling to conceive of a scenario where two “ordinary” people would come out and say something formulated anything remotely along these lines (as opposed to, you know, reading it from a cue sheet). Unless they happen to work in the Scottish Labour Party PR department, obviously.

So, who are you, Alan and Helen? What do you really think?
