Megrahi
By “Calgacus”, some guy I don’t know from the Internets, responding to comments on the story of Jack Straw’s response to Megrahi’s release.

The majority of posters are pointing out that the trial was a sham - with no jury, bribed witnesses and the evidence tampered with. There is no evidence Megrahi or Libya were involved, only the conspiracy theory put forward by the prosecution at Megrahi’s trial, which would have never have been accepted by a jury if there had been one.
Professor Robert Black, who helped establish the trial and UN Observer Dr. Hans Koechler are two of the many people pointing this out. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/526405.stm http://www.theherald.co.uk/search/display.var.2526665.0.this_shameful_miscarriage_has_gravely_sullied_the_scottish_criminal_justice_system.php http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2007/sep/02/theairlineindustry.libya http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/commentators/hans-kchler-i-saw-the-trial-ndash-and-the-verdict-made-no-sense-1775217.html
All the new evidence coming in shows Megrahi was framed in a show trial - see e.g the last Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission’s report on the case. http://www.sccrc.org.uk/ViewFile.aspx?id=293
Being outraged at an innocent man being freed after being jailed for 10 years for a crime he didn’t committ misses the point completely.
I’m not surprised many Americans (and some Scots) don’t know most of this given the failure of much of the media to mention any of it. Sad that even the director of the FBI is making false claims that Megrahi was convicted “by a jury” under “due process”
