Describe Twitter in 140 characters
It seems fitting that the (to some, enigmatic) communications medium du jour should be described within the constraints it places upon our (t)witterings.
Tell me how you’d describe or explain Twitter in 140 characters, and I’ll post it here.
Answers so far:
@fraserspeirs: For me: water cooler for the self-employed and solo worker.
@tarasis: open, freeform, social networking with any & all and a journal to boot
@tarasis: oh yeah and a Quasi watercooler
@marcode: psuedo-public pulse of the web and communication medium
@xxloverxx: Better than FB,make friends,share stuff,pirate software (never tried),chat (gossip?),rant,praise,retweet,get popular…y’know, stuff.
@gordonhenderson: Contact and chat tool for groups, made famous because everyone follows Stephen Fry.
@ohmz: It’s like a micro soapbox you can say whatever you wan’t it doesn’t mean anyone is listening.
@endless_psych: It’s an SMS sent to the world. Sometimes it’s mundane, sometimes extraordinary.
@endless_psych: Always addictive…
@blech: once I thought it was just for statuses, but now I reckon Twitter is a universal text message bus: cf twitpic, twitvid, tinyurl, &c
@cyberdoyle: the people I follow keep me informed about all the stuff I am interested in. My followers help me when I ask. I help when I can.
@alexbrooks: publish your thoughts to the world with conviction and the freedom of the Internet.
My take: Twitter lets you find out and share what’s happening—whether it’s your friends or global news—and talk about it.
