Tumbled Logic

My iPlayer statistics dump

This is a dump from my iPlayer database, which more or less tracks the BBC TV we watch in this house. It’s not completely accurate, but it’s not particularly inaccurate, either. The ‘pid’ is the Programme ID, which can be plugged into /programmes, while ‘brand’ and ‘series’ are extracted from the programme’s metadata.

The data runs the beginning of the year until about ten minutes ago. It’s actually quite hard to pin down when exactly it starts, because the dates got reset in April through a script snafu. Just bear in mind that the primary purpose of this database isn’t reporting, being able to dump the data is just a side-effect :)

The ‘fetched’ date is the timestamp of the programme being retrieved from iPlayer, which won’t match the time the programme was actually watched. Usually, a programme would be watched the same day, but sometimes it’ll be a few days. Occasionally, a it’ll take a week or two to get around to watching it, but it’s rare that something listed here doesn’t get watched by one or other of us.

I’ve imported the data into Google Spreadsheets, which you can view here. The only snag is that Google insists on showing (for me, at least) the dates in US format, which is slightly irritating, especially given that they were YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS in the CSV.

Enjoy!
