Tumbled Logic

Okay, so here’s a little story

redcloud:

Let’s say your wife leaves you. And let’s say your son is with you 5 days out of 7. And let’s say your wife applies for some form of public assistance in the state of Arizona while she’s living with her family and working through whatever psychological issues she might be struggling with, and not working.  And since you are both basically uninsurable, given your pre-existing conditions, one of the big draws of that public assistance is healthcare insurance for your child.

Now let’s say that you yourself do not partake of public assistance. You have some savings and you get by. You give your wife some money when she asks for it. Mostly, you provide by keeping a stable home environment and getting your child to school the 4 school days out of 5 that he is with you.

Well, if the state of Arizona happens to notice that your address is not the same as your wife’s address, they will most likely take you to court, trying to recover the cost of that public assistance in the form of back child-support, owed to the state instead of your estranged spouse. And they can seriously fuck you up to get it.

Which is not to say that maybe they aren’t right to do that. I don’t know. All I’ve been trying to do is provide a stable home for my boy. I’ve managed to do that so far. And my estranged wife has been dealing with her situation the best she knows how.

I *really* have not needed the stress of this upcoming “appearance”. Not right now. Not when I most need to be pulling myself together.

I so so so hope it does not all fall apart.

This sounds a little crazy :\ Did they not try to, y’know, figure out what the situation is before going all heavy-handed? It seems insane that the state of Arizona is trying to tap you when your boy’s with you five days out of seven. Maybe I’m missing something, though :S
